Clinical Interests

Dr. Nguyen's research interests encompass several areas of basic and clinical and translational science. These include studies to understand outcome risk trajectories over time in patients on dialysis, such as cardiovascular events and infection-related hospitalization. He also collaborates on many studies to further elucidate the molecular and clinical features of fragile X premutation carriers and also in treatment studies for individuals with Fragile X Syndrome and fragile X premutation over the past decade. Motivated by these and other biomedical studies, Dr. Nguyen develops novel statistical methodologies in statistical bioinformatics (prediction, classification, false discovery rate, microarray data, dimensional reduction, partial least squares dimension reduction); case series method and measurement error; sparse longitudinal analysis (mixed effects model, varying-coefficient model) among others.
