Philosophy of Care
Health is more than just the state of the body, it is the state of the whole person. It includes the physical, mental, emotional and even spiritual state. I believe that a physician takes all these into consideration in the treatment of a patient. He should be a life coach, encouraging a patient to make the right health choices as well as providing good medical care. Health cannot be achieved by simply writing a prescription. People have to make a conscious effort to make healthy choices in their life style. A physician has to try to get to know the patient on a personal basis to be able to facilitate these changes. Health care is a cooperative effort in which both parties work towards a common goal to improve one's health.
