Media Advisory: Kids can get their game on at Children's Hospital event

(SACRAMENTO, Calif.)

The Game Truck, a mobile video gaming party on wheels, is coming to the Sacramento campus of UC Davis and kids of all ages are invited to play. The free event is hosted by UC Davis Children's Hospital.

WHEN: Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

WHERE: The Game Truck will be parked on 45th Street, between 2nd Avenue and Y Street in Sacramento.

WHY: This family event is one way for UC Davis Children's Hospital to thank its patients and the Sacramento community for its continued support.  

VISUALS: Members of the media are invited to cover the event. Visuals include the Game Truck, a green and orange truck that can host 16 players at one time. It includes HD TVs and a range of multiplayer video games for Xbox, PlayStation 3 and Wii.

MORE: Game Truck is a proud national partner of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Families are invited to come for the games and stay for the UC Davis Health System Farmers Market, which is held on Thursday from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the adjacent Parking Lot 12 at the intersection of 45th and Y streets in Sacramento. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Attendees are invited to bring their own chairs or picnic blanket.

UC Davis Children's Hospital is the Sacramento region's only nationally ranked, comprehensive hospital for children, serving infants, children, adolescents and young adults with primary, subspecialty and critical care. It includes the Central Valley's only pediatric emergency department and Level I pediatric trauma center, which offers the highest level of care for critically ill children. The 129-bed children's hospital includes the state-of-the-art 49-bed neonatal and 24-bed pediatric intensive care and pediatric cardiac intensive care units. With more than 120 physicians in 33 subspecialties, UC Davis Children's Hospital has more than 74,000 clinic and hospital visits and 13,000 emergency department visits each year.
