UC Davis Health System's partnership with ValleyCare concludes
UC Davis Health System's Cancer Care Network has concluded its four-year partnership with ValleyCare Health System and Regional Cancer Center. The collaboration was established to enhance oncology care in the Pleasanton/Livermore region. The relationship formally ended Oct. 31.
The unique partnership combined academic and community expertise to advance cancer diagnosis and treatment. Academic and community physicians collaborated on patient treatment planning using virtual tumor boards that included physician experts in all aspects of cancer diagnosis and treatment. Patients were provided the opportunity to participate in oncology clinical trials, and to improve cancer outcomes. The two health systems look forward to exploring other opportunities for collaboration in the future.
During the time of the partnership, the Regional Cancer Center at ValleyCare achieved full accreditation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, maintained its American College of Surgeon's accreditation status, and developed a significant supportive oncology program including patient navigation, rehabilitation and survivorship wellness programs.
Scott Christensen, director of the Cancer Care Network, said he has enjoyed working in partnership with the professional team at ValleyCare.
"We have valued our relationship highly and appreciated the significant contributions ValleyCare Health System provided to the Cancer Care Network," he said.
Sonja McLendon, vice president of Ancillary and Outpatient Services for ValleyCare Health System, echoed Christensen's sentiments.
"We have enjoyed a collaborative, patient-centered relationship with UC Davis' Cancer Care Network over the past four years," she said. "We remain committed to providing the highest level of cancer care to our community,"
