Causeway Classic supports UC Davis Children's Hospital


The UC Davis Athletics and Sacramento State Athletics are putting the “cause” in this year's Causeway Classic football game by fundraising for UC Davis Children’s Hospital.

The 60th annual Causeway Classic, the legendary and longstanding rivalry between the UC Davis Aggies and the Sac State Hornets, will be held Saturday, Nov. 23 at 3:30 p.m., at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento. For every ticket purchased, ScholarShare, California's 529 College Savings Plan, will donate one dollar to the children's hospital.

In addition, this year's game will highlight the children's hospital in a variety of ways.

  • UC Davis Children's Hospital patient Cadence Stamper, 7, will participate in the coin toss on the field. She was admitted to the children's hospital in July after she suffered a stroke and lost her mobility. After five weeks of daily physical therapy, she regained movement and is now able to walk. 
  • The UC Davis Pediatric Critical Care Transport ambulance, which delivers patients throughout Northern California to the children's hospital, will be parked in the Kids' Zone. Attendees will be welcome to look inside the high-tech vehicle and meet the transport team.  
  • The UC Davis Children's Hospital booth will provide health information and giveaways.
  • Coin canisters will be set up throughout the stadium to accept donations to the children's hospital. Attendees can also text "ICARE" to "80000" to donate $10 to the Children's Miracle Network at UC Davis Children's Hospital. (A $10 donation to CMNH - UC Davis Children's Hospital.
