Kohl's to donate $450,000 to UC Davis Children's Hospital

Kohl's Cares grant will support health and wellness of Sacramento area children

(SACRAMENTO, Calif.)

Kohl’s Cares will donate $450,000 over two years to the UC Davis Children’s Hospital's Kohl’s Injury Prevention program. The program will support three strategies in the Sacramento community: to educate teen drivers on safe driving, educate families on childhood safety in and around cars, and educate violently injured and at-risk youth, identified through the UC Davis trauma program, on violence avoidance strategies.

"Kohl's has been an important partner in our community outreach efforts to promote childhood safety and reduce injuries in the Sacramento region," said Christy Adams, coordinator of the trauma prevention program. "Preventable trauma injuries are the leading cause of death among children. The goal of this proposed program is to reduce preventable injuries among children in the Oak Park and the surrounding area by fostering a safe, crime- and violence-free community."

Since 2005, Kohl’s has donated more than $3 million to UC Davis Children’s Hospital. Other UC Davis Children’s Hospital initiatives supported through Kohl’s Cares include its child and adolescent injury prevention efforts in the Sacramento area.

Kohl's commitment to UC Davis Children’s Hospital is made possible through the Kohl's Cares cause merchandise program. Through this initiative, Kohl’s sells $5 books and soft toys, where 100 percent of net profit benefits children’s health initiatives nationwide, including hospital partnerships like this one. Kohl's has raised more than $317 million through this merchandise program. For more information, visit www.Kohls.com/Cares
