HIMSS Analytics, the research arm of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), will present UC Davis with a special Commitment to Health IT Award at a Sept. 26 event at UC Davis Medical Center. The presentation will be held in conjunction with National Health IT Week, which runs from Sept. 26-30.
Along with presentation of the award, the event will feature a panel discussion, Using IT to Improve Health, led by Jeff Wajda, chief medical information officer for the medical center, and include UC Davis thought leaders and national and regional HIMSS officials. A Q&A session will follow the presentation, scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon in room 2222 of the Education Building. A live webinar will be broadcast for those who cannot attend the event. HIMSS leaders will also provide healthcare legislation updates and show those in attendance how to become health care advocates.
UC Davis Health System previously received the HIMSS EMR Adoption Model℠ Stage 7 recognition in 2012. Stage 7 recognition represents attainment of the highest level on the HIMSS Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model, used to track EMR progress at hospitals and health systems around the nation and world.
“HIMSS Level 7 designation is a testament to the great work our UC Davis Medical Center employees have done building our EMR system,” said Wajda. “As a result of our work, our EMR will help us attain the ideal and desired future state of improved care and an ever improving patient experience.”
UC Davis will be one of four institutions across the country showcased through regional events during National Health IT Week this year. UC Davis Medical Center was selected as the “model institution” representing the HIMSS western region.
Lunch and refreshments will be served to the first 100 attendees.
