UC Davis Health System and Marshall Medical Center have signed a contract that gives CalPERS employees in El Dorado County and Folsom the opportunity to select a new health maintenance organization (HMO) plan from Anthem Blue Cross for their health insurance.
The HMO plan, which offers fixed co-pays for office visits and no deductibles, previously had been unavailable to CalPERS employees in El Dorado County who wanted to receive care from providers affiliated with Marshall Medical Center.
The new agreement gives CalPERS employees access to a breadth of primary and specialty-care services at Marshall Hospital and referrals to specialists at UC Davis Medical Center for health-care services not available locally.
“Marshall is pleased to enter into this special arrangement with UC Davis that will allow thousands of CalPERS members in El Dorado County to select local medical services,” said James Whipple, CEO, Marshall Medical Center. “It’s a move that will not only improve satisfaction through convenience but also members’ health through greater access to physicians and services.”
“This affiliation is new and innovative for UC Davis and very much in line with our strategic plan to strengthen collaborations with other providers and serve our greater community,” said Maureen McKennan, regional affiliations officer at UC Davis Health System. “This product will provide a much desired, affordable, high-quality HMO option in El Dorado County."
The agreement expands on UC Davis’ existing relationship with Marshall Medical Center, which includes pediatric telehealth services for emergency care and referrals to other specialists and sub-specialists at UC Davis Children’s Hospital. The new agreement gives members access to specialists in 150 areas of advanced medicine at UC Davis Medical Center, including the latest prevention techniques, treatments and technologies at its many renowned specialty centers.
