For its “strong foundation of high-quality care, stellar credentials and a focus on doing what is right for the patients in its community,” UC Davis Medical Center has for the second year in a row been named one of the 100 Great Hospitals in America by Becker’s Hospital Review.
The 2016 recognition takes into consideration such other reputable hospital ranking sources as U.S. News & World Report, which ranks the medical center in 15 specialties; Healthgrades, where it is highly rated in treating 31 conditions; The Leapfrog Group; and magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
The Becker’s editorial team also considered such patient perspectives as “Would you take a loved one here for health care?” and “Would this hospital be on a short list of places to visit for an important procedure or health issue?”
“This recognition of overall excellence for our medical center reflects the skill, dedication and commitment of all of our faculty and staff to providing the ultimate best health care to the approximately 250,000 patients treated at UC Davis Medical Center each year,” said Ann Madden Rice, chief executive officer of UC Davis Medical Center. “I am grateful for this achievement and for the superb quality of care that our employees provide to our patients each and every day.”
There are more than 5,600 hospitals in the United States. The hospitals included in the Becker’s rating are “home to many medical and scientific breakthroughs, provide best-in-class patient care and are stalwarts of their communities, serving as research hubs or local anchors of wellness.”
