UC Davis Medical Center has received the 2016 Women’s Choice Award as one of America’s best hospitals for bariatric surgery, cancer and heart care.
The award program recognizes the country’s best health care institutions based on criteria that considers female perspectives on patient satisfaction, clinical excellence and hospital preferences. The three designations in which UC Davis is recognized also represent hospitals that:
- Meet the high standards of The American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery
- Are accredited by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer as NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers
- Perform well with regard to clinical measures and recommendation rates in heart care
“In addition to providing leading-edge, compassionate care to all of our patients, UC Davis is deeply committed to addressing the unique health care needs of women in our community and throughout the nation,” said Ann Madden Rice, CEO of UC Davis Medical Center. “This recognition acknowledges our research and clinical teams who are leaders in actively addressing gender-based distinctions in disease prevention and treatment.”
All Women’s Choice Award winners rank above the national average for patient recommendations on the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems surveys, as indicated by the data reported by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
“Women tend to be very selective when choosing hospitals,” said Delia Passi, CEO and founder of the Women’s Choice Award. “We take pride in helping them choose with confidence by verifying the hospitals that are the very best at providing patient care.”
