Eat pancakes, help children at UC Davis Children's Hospital
On Friday, Feb. 1, pancake lovers can drive through and eat their fill of short-stack pancakes and make a donation to support sick and injured children at UC Davis Children's Hospital, in recognition of the International House of Pancakes' (IHOP) National Pancake Day.
The pancake drive-through event will be held off the circular driveway at the front of UC Davis Medical Center, near the intersection of X and 45th Streets from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Children's hospital patients will be invited to visit the location and receive a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes. Miss Sacramento County Julianna Johnson will be on hand to help flip and serve pancakes.
The event is being held to promote National Pancake Day on Feb. 5, an annual fundraising partnership with the Children's Miracle Network (CMN). Now in its seventh year, Pancake Day encourages IHOP patrons to donate what they would have paid for a short stack of buttermilk pancakes to the Children's Miracle Network. Other promotional events will be held on Feb. 5 at IHOP locations throughout Sacramento.
Proceeds from Pancake Day are anticipated to raise nearly $3 million nationwide for Children's Miracle Network hospitals. All proceeds from Sacramento-area Pancake Day donations will benefit UC Davis Children's Hospital, Sacramento's Children's Miracle Network-affiliated hospital. Last year, Sacramento Pancake Day sales netted nearly $85,000, and other IHOP partnerships raised a total $100,000.
