UC Davis medical technology forum set for July 21
Opportunities to learn about med-tech commercialization
The second in a series of unique forums that focus on unmet medical needs and medical technology commercialization opportunities takes place on July 21 on the Sacramento campus of UC Davis. The forum will include presentations by several physicians and med-tech researchers, as well as three teams who successfully developed commercialization plans for their innovative concepts and devices. The evening also will feature remarks by an angel investor who helped start several companies and has experience with the start-up funding needed to move devices from prototype to market.
The forum is on Thursday, July 21, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the UC Davis Cancer Center auditorium, 4501 X St., in Sacramento. To register for this free event, please RSVP to the UC Davis Medical Technology Commercialization Clinic Forum.
In addition to presentations by experts, the forum is structured to provide ample networking and discussion opportunities, as well as to encourage attendees to engage, learn and be challenged. It's all part of the Medical Technology Commercialization Clinic at UC Davis, which brings together multidisciplinary teams of faculty, physicians, postdoctoral scientists and students who are pursuing degrees ranging from science, engineering and math to business and law. The teams also include experienced entrepreneurs who, along with program partners, help guide and mentor participants in developing commercialization strategies that can bring new medical technologies closer to market.
The clinic is made possible by a "Partnerships for Innovation" grant from the National Science Foundation. UC Davis’ partners in the clinic program include California State University at Sacramento, Fisk University, SARTA and its MedStart Initiative, Los Rios Community College District, Fenwick & West LLP, Marcias Gini & O’Connell LLP, UC Davis Center for Entrepreneurship, PRIDE Industries, T2 Venture Capital, City of Sacramento’s Economic Development Department, City of West Sacramento’s Economic Development Division, Moss Adams LLP, Sacramento Angels, and UC Davis InnovationAccess.
The forum series continues on Sept. 7 and Nov. 30. For more information, contact Gabriela Lee at gabriela.lee@cbst.ucdavis.edu or 916-734-1775.
