UC Davis Children's Hospital joins ImproveCareNow network

(SACRAMENTO, Calif.)

UC Davis Children’s Hospital has joined ImproveCareNow, a network of care centers where clinicians, researchers, patients and parents work together to help care for kids with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

Since ImproveCareNow began in 2007, the organization has increased the number of children in remission with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis in its network. Participating centers collect standardized data during clinic visits, monitor individual and overall performance, compare outcomes and share best evidence and tools for helping patients with IBD get better faster, and stay well longer.

"I am very proud that UC Davis Children's Hospital has joined the ImproveCareNow community. ImproveCareNow gives us the opportunity to bring discoveries into practice by harnessing the motivation and collective intelligence of physicians, care teams and families,” said UC Davis pediatric gastroenterologist Daphne Say.  “Our participation in this network will allow us to provide consistent, quality care for our pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) population and improve outcomes for all."

UC Davis Children’s Hospital’s pediatric gastroenterology team is currently recruiting patients to be a part of the ImproveCareNow patient community.

Currently, 92 centers -- eight in California -- are part of the ImproveCareNow network, with 790 pediatric gastroenterologists and 26,000 patients with IBD.

UC Davis Children's Hospital is the Sacramento region's only nationally ranked, comprehensive hospital providing care for infants, children, adolescents and young adults with primary, subspecialty and critical care. It includes the Central Valley's only pediatric emergency department and Level I pediatric trauma center, which offers the highest level of care for its critically ill patients, as well as the West Coast's only Level I children's surgery center. The 129-bed children's hospital includes the state-of-the-art 49-bed neonatal and 24-bed pediatric intensive care and pediatric cardiac intensive care units.
