Register online for the UC Davis Mini Medical School

Online registration for next year’s always-popular Mini Medical School is now available. The theme for the upcoming lecture series is "On the Quest for the Fountain of Youth: Restoring Function to the Older Adult."

The 2014 program takes place on Saturday mornings in February (Feb. 1, 8, 15 and 22), from 9 - 11 a.m. in the Sciences Lecture Hall on the Davis campus.

Visit to enroll. UC Davis’ acclaimed program is limited to the first 500 individuals who apply. It remains free of charge, though a donation of $100 is suggested.

This year’s lectures will focus on gerontology, ophthalmology, oncology, nephrology, orthopedics, cardiology, neurology and depression.

Since 2002, the UC Davis Department of Internal Medicine has sponsored classes focused on normal human aging and the avoidance of diseases associated with aging. Classes are taught by top academic physicians and scientists, and instruction is at the level of a first- or second-year medical student.

Although the program is ideally geared for the foresighted middle ager and novice senior, there are no age limits for MiniMedicalSchool. "Students" range from their twenties to nineties, and have included curious younger individuals and vigorous older adults. The common bond is a passion for understanding the science of aging.
