Philosophy of Care
I have two guiding philospophies in caring for patients: First and foremost "what can I not afford to miss." This involves pursuing issues that could cause the patient harm in the near or relatively near future. My second philosophy is that this is a "team approach." I try to engage the patient in decisions and provide information that helps guide their understanding of the issues at hand.
There are no aspects of transplant care that Dr. Adey is not interested in. She has special interests in the sensitized patient, antibody mediated rejection, and infectious disease in the renal transplant recipient. She is also interested in promotion of living donors and the paired exchange program. The paired exchange allows integration of her interest in living donors with improving transplantability of the sensitized patient.
Dr. Adey is just starting her research at UC Davis. She is a site PI for a multicenter study using IVIG and rituximab for desensitization. She is interested in looking at markers and indicators of which patients will be responsive to desensitization.
