Clinical/Research Interests

Debora A. Paterniti earned her doctorate in sociology from UC Davis and completed a fellowship in health policy and health services at Yale School of Medicine. She is an expert in the application of qualitative research methodology to questions of health services. Her areas of specialization include medical and applied sociology and social psychology. She received a University Teaching Award from UC Davis in 2003. Dr. Paterniti currently teaches research design, medical sociology, and social welfare and health. Her research interests include studies of informed consent, physician-patient interaction and decision-making, and community-based research.
