Philosophy of Care
I believe every patient is unique with different expectations. I believe that I have to strive to help my patients achieve those expectations, provided they are realistic. I feel strongly that I owe it to my patients to keep my skills, my techniques and my knowledge up-to-date as every patient deserves the best that's currently available. I prefer to take care of patient problems directly and personally.
Having trained extensively in England, Canada and New York as a pelvic/lower limb trauma and arthroplasty surgeon, Dr. Pereira now concentrates his efforts on the reconstruction of the hip and knee joints. His surgical repertoire includes primary and revision operations of the hip and knee and certain osteotomies. He offers the full range of hip replacements including resurfacings, mini-hips, cemented and uncemented and various bearing options. Knee surgeries include Unicompartmental knee replacements and Patello-femoral replacements. Dr. Pereira has extensive experience in using computer navigation for both hip and knee replacments. He has an avid interest in treating patients with infections following joint replacements. Dr. Pereira's research focuses on patient outcomes of hip and knee replacements and biomechanics of implants. He has a special interest in Computer aided Surgery from digital templating to computer navigation. He is also keen on methods to reduce post-op infections, early and robust diagnosis of infections and effective methods to eradicate them.
