Ozonoff's research at the UC Davis MIND Institute focuses on very young children with autism. She studies the onset of autism in a prospective investigation that follows high-risk infants from birth through age 3. She also studies risk factors for autistic regression.
Her clinical interests are in the diagnosis and assessment of people with autism spectrum disorders, with specializations in Asperger syndrome and infant and adult diagnosis.
Ozonoff has written over a hundred peer-reviewed publications and chapters on these topics, as well as three books. Her work has been showcased by national news media such as the television news magazine "60 Minutes."
Ozonoff is a joint editor of the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry and serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders, Autism Research, Autism Spectrum Quarterly and Guilford Press.
