Philosophy of Care

I find myself in the best of both worlds. I left private practice in order to join academic medicine. This has afforded me the opportunity to become a research fellow sponsored by the American Lung Association and the NIH, the director of the Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit, and director of the Invasive Procedures in the Pulmonary Services Laboratory at UC Davis Medical Center. I have the opportunity to treat complex diseases in critically ill patients using state-of-the-art technology and investigative measures that are available only in the academic setting. This year, as a transplant physician, I participated in our rapidly growing Lung Transplant Program. I am especially excited that now I can make this kind of practice available to the community.
