Philosophy of Care

I believe that most patients come to me looking for help because they are frustrated with the medical system. Listening to their concerns and empathizing with their situation is sometimes all that is needed. Sometimes reassurance is the best medicine.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Southard is an interventional cardiologist with an interest in vascular medicine. He sees patients in clinic, in the hospital and in consultation. His research interests focus on expanding care to patients in underserved areas and he is working with our Telemedicine program to begin cardiology consultation in that regard. He also has an interest in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and is gaining interest in stem cell therapy.
