Philosophy of Care
I was drawn to pediatrics by both its challenges and rewards. Pediatric patients, from newborn babies
to near-adult adolescents, present a broad spectrum of medical conditions. Illness and disease place
special burdens on children, and I am sensitive to each child's individual discomforts and worries. I
believe in the power of preventive health care. I not only treat existing problems, but also try to guide
the children I see toward active lives and healthy habits. I value open communication and a supportive
environment, and I encourage parents and caretakers to ask questions. In my view, I am in a
partnership with families, helping their children grow into healthy adults. I am proud to be part of the
UC Davis family, an institution with world-class facilities and a deep commitment to providing the best
medical care to the people it serves.
