Clinical/Research Interests
Dr. Ulfat Shaikh is the Director of Healthcare Quality Integration at the University of California Davis Schools of Health and is a board-certified pediatrician at the UC Davis Children's Hospital where she works in the general pediatrics and urgent care clinics.
Her professional activities center on the design, implementation and evaluation of health care quality improvement initiatives. Her recent projects have focused on pediatric nutrition, obesity, asthma, preventable readmission, and patient satisfaction. She has expertise in the area of health information technology applications, performance metrics, and clinical work force and organizational development in quality improvement.
Dr. Shaikh completed medical school at Goa Medical College, India and pediatric residency at Bronx Lebanon Hospital-Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York. She earned a Masters in Public Health from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and a Masters in Clinical Research from the University of California Davis. She was trained in quality improvement at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, and at Intermountain Healthcare's Advanced Training Program in Healthcare Delivery Improvement.
