Clinical/Research Interests

Dr. Shelton specializes in nuclear medicine, PET-CT, and some aspects of diagnostic radiology. He is studying cardiothoracic radiology, nuclear medicine, computer networking systems in nuclear radiology, functional cardiac protocols, and tumor work-up and staging with functional imaging. Dr. Shelton helped pioneer the development of transesophageal echocardiography, and has presented nationally on osteoporosis, skeletal metastases in lung cancer patients, thyroid carcinoma, cardiovascular MRI, PET-CT, and SPECT. He has authored seventeen radiology textbook chapters and is a reviewer for several scientific journals including The Journal of Nuclear Medicine and the Journal of Thoracic Imaging.
