Consumers again rate UC Davis Medical Center among nation's best
For the 13th consecutive year, UC Davis Medical Center appears on a list of the nation's top hospitals compiled by a major health-care industry survey research firm.
UC Davis Medical Center earned the "Consumer Choice Award" from National Research Corporation as the Sacramento region's top and most-preferred hospital in overall quality and image. The award is based on the results of NRC's annual nationwide Internet consumer survey, conducted from Sept. 1, 2010 through Aug. 30, 2011. The survey covered about 270,000 households nationwide and about 1,800 local responses.
Survey respondents were asked to rate each area hospital in the area of image and reputation. Winning facilities rank highest in their Metropolitan Statistical Areas as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau. Responses from consumers in the Sacramento-Arden-Arcade-Roseville market area placed UC Davis Medical Center at the top of the list based on consumers' perception of which hospital has the best overall quality, and best image and reputation.
Out of about 15 hospitals rated, UC Davis Medical Center received the highest percentage of "best" ratings in these areas:
- Best overall quality (17.5 percent; the next highest rating was 11.6 percent)
- Best image and reputation (20.2 percent; the next highest rating was 11.6 percent)
- Best doctors
- Best nurses
- Most personalized care
- Latest technology and equipment
- Highest patient safety
According to NRC, the Ticker survey is the nation's largest and most comprehensive consumer assessment of the health-care industry. The study has a margin of error of plus or minus .2 percent at a national level.
This is the National Research Corporation's 16th year awarding hospitals whose consumers have recognized them for providing quality health-care services.
