DeLemos recognized as a National Magnet Nurse of the Year
Christi DeLemos, a nurse practitioner in the UC Davis Department of Neurological Surgery, has been recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) with a 2016 National Magnet Nurse of the Year award.
A total of five nurses were recognized during the ANCC’s Oct. 5-7 National Magnet Conference in Orlando for innovation, consultation, leadership and professional risk-taking. DeLemos' award was in the category of “new knowledge, innovations and improvements” for developing the Neuroscience Nurse Mobile Application.
The app is designed to enhance the bedside care of neurological patients, including those with stroke or traumatic brain injury, by providing instant access to neuroscience nursing information. It has been downloaded so far by more than 1,700 users in 19 countries and is available through the app store and Google Play.
A committed educator, DeLemos also produced a 30-minute professional teaching video (available for purchase through the Neurocritical Care Society) that demonstrates how to conduct a comprehensive neurological assessment. She currently serves as president of the World Federation of Neuroscience Nurses.
