Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Residency Training Program

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry division is based at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, on the grounds of the UC Davis Medical Center. We accept two new trainees each year into our two-year program (entry at PGY-4 or PG-Y5). Our training program reflects the diversity and depth of our division. It includes a broad clinical focus, as well as both academic and community orientations. Many of our graduates pursue community-based and/or academic work upon completion of their training.  Trainees are provided ample opportunity to pursue research and other academic interests.

The majority of training for the first year is based at the UC Davis Medical Center. In this way, trainees work with core faculty as they acquire fundamental skills. In the second year, trainees rotate through community agencies where they are provided the opportunity to work more independently within these more complex systems. Trainees also pursue elective experiences during their second year.
