Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Residency Training Program
The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry division is based at the UC Davis M.I.N.D. Institute, located on the grounds of the UC Davis Medical Center. In addition to our traditional two year program entry at (PGY-4 or PGY-5), we also offer a six year integrated child and adolescent psychiatry/general psychiatry/research training program (entry at PGY-1) for a limited number of residents.
We accept three new trainees each year into our two-year program. Our training program reflects the diversity and depth of our division. It includes a broad clinical focus as well as both academic and community orientations. Although most of our graduates pursue community-based work upon completion of their training, residents are provided ample opportunity to pursue research and other academic interests during their training.
The majority of training for the first year is based at the Medical Center. In this way, trainees work with core faculty as they acquire fundamental skills. In the second year, trainees rotate through community agencies where they are provided the opportunity to work more independently within these more complex systems. Trainees also pursue elective experiences during their second year.
