Dr. McCarron completed a combined internal medicine and psychiatry residency and is board certified in both disciplines as well as psychosomatic medicine.  He serves as the program director for the combined internal medicine/psychiatry residency program and as the medical director of the UC Davis Internal Medicine/Psychiatry Clinic.  He is president-elect of the Central California Psychiatry Society and the current president of the Association of Medicine and Psychiatry.  Dr. McCarron is on the editorial board for Current Psychiatry as the internal medicine/psychiatry section editor.  His professional interests include emergency psychiatry, primary care psychiatry, primary care medicine, somatorform disorders and medical education.  He is co-editor of Lippincott's Primary Care Psychiatry and its companion Web site at http://www.psychiatryforpcp.com.
