Dr. McCarron completed a dual residency in internal medicine and psychiatry at Rush University and is board certified in psychiatry, psychosomatic medicine and internal medicine. He is the UC Davis Internal Medicine/Psychiatry Residency Program Director. He also serves as director of pain psychiatry and co-director for the UC Davis Train New Trainers Primary Care Psychiatry Fellowship. Dr. McCarron has numerous publications at the interface of chronic pain, psychiatry and internal medicine clinical care and education. He has recently edited three textbooks with a focus on teaching the essentials of primary care based psychiatry and providing an innovative approach to teaching psychiatrists the essentials of preventive and collaborative care medicine. Dr. McCarron is president-elect for the California Psychiatry Association and recent past president of the Association of Medicine and Psychiatry. He currently represents central California on the American Psychiatry Association Assembly.
