Dr. McCarron completed a combined internal medicine and psychiatry residency and is board certified in both disciplines.  He serves as the program director for the combined internal medicine/psychiatry residency program and as the medical director of the UC Davis Internal Medicine/Psychiatry Clinic.  He is the recipient of the 2005-2006 UC Davis physician of the year award for outstanding clinical service and teaching.  Dr. McCarron is on the editorial board for Current Psychiatry as the internal medicine/psychiatry section editor.  His professional interests include emergency psychiatry, primary care psychiatry, primary care medicine, somatorform disorders and medical education.
