Dr. Giroux is a board certified adult psychiatrist and is currently the medical director at the Sacramento County Adult Psychiatric Support Services Aftercare Clinic (2130 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento) as well as the site director for resident and medical student training. She acquired her clinical experience in various settings, both as an inpatient and outpatient physician. She has been enthusiastic about supervising students throughout her appointments. She has a particular interest in personality disorders and trauma. She recently contributed a chapter to and designed the cover illustration of a book about borderline personality in older age. Her therapeutic approach is mainly eclectic and trans-culturally sensitive with an emphasis on an existential perspective and psychoeducation. She believes in the patient’s inner strengths, creative potential and capacity to participate in recovery.
