Dr. Ferranti is the training director for the department’s General Psychiatry Residency Training Program. She also serves as an assistant clinical professor in the Division of Psychiatry and the Law. Dr. Ferranti currently practices outpatient psychiatry and supervises general psychiatry residents in the UC Davis Psychiatry outpatient clinic. Dr. Ferranti completed her residency training in general psychiatry and additional training in forensic psychiatry at UC Davis. She is board-certified in both general adult psychiatry and forensic psychiatry. She is a member of the Superior Court of California expert witness panel for five northern California counties including those of Sacramento, Placer, Yolo, Contra Costa, and Alameda. She has consulted in numerous cases of criminal matters involving competency to stand trial, evaluation of sanity (NGRI) and evaluation of sexual offenders. She is also regularly retained in civil matters including fitness for duty, immigration issues and substance abuse disorder (addiction) evaluations. Dr. Ferranti's areas of interest include psychotic violence in women, malingering (feigning mental illness) and sexual harassment. She has presented both locally and nationally on the topics of violence risk assessment, psychosis, pedophilia and gender differences in homicide offenders.
