UC Davis M.I.N.D. Institute to be featured in national documentary on autism
April 2, 2009
An hour-long documentary on autism featuring the UC Davis M.I.N.D. Institute will be broadcast on the Discovery Health cable channel on Monday, April 6 at 8 p.m.
The documentary, called Unlocking Autism, centers around the science of autism research, diagnosis and treatment. It features extensive interviews with David Amaral, the Beneto Foundation professor and director of research at the M.I.N.D. Institute, and Sally Rogers, internationally known researcher and expert on early diagnosis and intervention in autism at the M.I.N.D. Institute.
According to the program's description, Unlocking Autism visits "some of the leaders in the field who are slowly chipping away at the mystery on many different fronts -- from the causes to the therapies. We learn about possible genetic and environmental links, as well as explore the facts behind controversial notions blaming vaccines and allergic reactions for the condition."
