Doctoring

Doctoring is a multi-disciplinary, longitudinal curriculum that emphasizes an integrative approach to patient care over the four years of medical education.  In long-term small groups, students have the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in patient interviewing and physical examination, critical review of the literature, rational medical decision-making, and health economics.  Additionally, the courses foster the development of humanism and professionalism, cultural competence, and ethics in medicine.  Since its implementation in the School of Medicine, the department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences has played an active leadership and teaching role in this innovative curriculum.
