PGY-1 Combined Internal Medicine/Psychiatry application information

We are delighted you are interested in the UC Davis Internal Medicine/Psychiatry Residency Training Program and we look forward to receiving your application. Our selection committee will screen all applications and selected candidates will be offered a personal interview. The interview is an opportunity for you to find out more about our program and for us to get a sense of your unique qualities. For full consideration applications must be received by November 6, 2009.

The following items are required:

  • Applications for PGY-1 positions will be accepted through ERAS beginning September 2009.
  • Internal Medicine/Psychiatry supplemental application (Adobe PDF)  (Microsoft Word)
  • Four letters of recommendation, including at least one from an internist and one from a psychiatrist.  Physicians familiar with your work should author all submitted letters. 
  • Medical school transcript
  • USMLE/COMLEX scores
  • A letter from your medical school Dean of Student Affairs is required.
Please refer to the IMG requirements if you are an international medical school graduate.

Interviews are held on most Mondays during the months of November, December and January.

7:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. Informal light breakfast with the residents 
8:00 a.m.-8:30 a.m. Interview
8:30 a.m.-9:00 a.m. Interview
9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. Mental Health Treatment Center Medicine/Psychiatry rounds
10:00 a.m-10:30 a.m. Mental Health Treatment Center tour and walk to UC Davis Medical Center
10:30 a.m-10:45 a.m. Chat with Dr. Meyers, Chair of Internal Medicine
10:45 a.m-11:00 a.m. Break
11:00 p.m.-11:15 p.m. Overview of the curriculum and rotation sites
11:15 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Informal discussion with Internal Medicine/Psychiatry faculty advisors
12:00 p.m.-12:30 p.m. Tour of UC Davis Medical Center
12:45 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Lunch with our outstanding residents
2:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Driving tour of UC Davis Medical Center campus and Primary Care Clinic
2:30 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. Chat with Dr. Hales, Chair of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
2:45 p.m. - 3:15 p.m. Interview
3:15 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Final questions, wrap up with Dr. McCarron 
3:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Special interests?  Would you like to meet with someone specific?
