Society for Women in Academic Psychiatry

The Society for Women in Academic Psychiatry (SWAP) was founded in May 2005 in response to the increased need for female faculty and staff mentorship in a continuously growing and dynamic department. We are proud to be a part of the entire faculty group, but acknowledge gender differences, an essential aspect of a culture in which diversity has become a key concept. Together we are seeking to enrich our faculty development programs, improve education on women's mental health and become strong role models for our trainees. The SWAP 2009 report reviews goals, educational activities, and projects co-sponsored by Women in Medicine and Science in association with the School of Medicine's Faculty Development program. A 2007 article on SWAP was published in Academic Psychiatry.
