The UC Davis Neuromuscular team believes strongly in giving back to the community. Our staff dedicates their time and volunteers to educate and support the local community and many NMD advocacy groups. To get the most current and up to date outreach efforts please visit our Facebook page:
Our team actively volunteers their time to attend many MDA sponsored events. We are a part of the annual Make a Muscle Walk around the state capitol, we send multiple speakers to the MDA Sharing the Journey Seminar, and we host the annual MDA holiday party (2011, 2012).
The Neuromuscular Research team also volunteers at the MDA summer camp. The team works directly with MDA to help coordinate camp activities, recruit volunteers, assist in training, and volunteer at camp. Not only that but, the Neuromuscular Research team has an annual fundraiser so every child who attends the MDA Summer camp can go home with a remote control car or another toy of choice. Last year they fundraised so all 60 kids from camp could go home with a toy.
Our team is also involved in many volunteer activities with PPMD. We support their mission to accelerate research in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. We co-hosted the 2012 West Coast Connect Meeting and frequently attend the local F.A.C.E.S meetings.
Discovering Creates Hope
It is the small things that make a difference. Our team understands the hardships many of our families experience and are dedicated to not only help with new research endeavors but to show the community that we care. Please feel free to contact us about upcoming events in the area.
