Clerkship
The UC Davis-Sacramento Clerkship Program, established in 1985, is based at the University of California, Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. As with the other off-campus programs, students complete all clerkship (4th year) requirements locally. Over 100 practitioner-faculty located throughout the Sacramento metropolitan area have volunteered to serve as preceptors, role-models and mentors for students assigned to the program. Faculty are employed at both teaching and community sites, providing students with an opportunity to evaluate career opportunities in a variety of traditional and non-traditional practice settings.
Students assigned to the UC Davis-Sacramento Program participate in a year-long Student-Centered Learning Project designed to promote active learning and meet individualized interests and needs. Components include developing individual learning plans, portfolio assessment, weekly conferences, service-learning and reflective discussions. Graduating students consistently rate the UC Davis-Sacramento program highly for its rich learning environment, exposure to diverse patient populations, professional and nurturing faculty, rotation assignment flexibility and the networking opportunities that it provides.
