Professional Biography

Dr. Julianna Burton completed her Bachelors of Science in Medicinal Chemistry in 1998 from the University of the Pacific. She continued on to complete her PharmD at the University of the Pacific in 1999. Dr. Burton finished a PGY1 pharmacy residency at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Stockton, California.

In 2000, Dr. Burton began working at Kaiser Permanente in Sacramento as a Clinical Pharmacist. Her position crossed lines between inpatient and outpatient with satellite staffing and clinic staffing in the same position. Dr. Burton focused her efforts on expanding pharmacy services in the clinics by providing patients with appointments for hypertension and hyperlipidemia.

In 2004 Dr. Burton began her work at UC Davis Medical Center. Her position as the ambulatory care supervisor allowed her to further expand the role of the pharmacist. She began a pharmacy Refill clinic, Cardiology clinic and an MTM clinic, in addition to supervising an anticoagulation clinic.

She continues to advance the practice of pharmacy and in 2013 began supervision of a Transition of Care team to improve the continuity of care for patients being discharged from the hospital.

Dr. Burton is very active in her professional organizations, having sat on the Board of Directors for the California Society of Health System’s Pharmacists as well as many roles from Secretary to President for her local chapter of Sacramento Valley, as well as NCCCP President.
