Innovative Medical Education Programs in Pediatrics

The Department of Pediatrics’ mission is to train outstanding physicians knowledgeable in the health care needs of children.

Pediatric Residency Program

The Department of Pediatrics sponsors a highly selective, nationally recognized three-year residency program, welcoming a cohort of 13 residents each year. With 39 total residents, the program trains pediatricians to be physician leaders in both their communities and profession.

Pediatric Fellowships
  • Allergy and Immunology Fellowship

    Our ACGME-accredited allergy and immunology fellowship is a two-year program that prepares fellows to provide medical care for adult and pediatric patients with allergic and immunologic disorders in academic settings, private practices or larger healthcare systems.

  • Developmental and Behavioral Pediatric Fellowship

    Our ACGME-accredited fellowship is a three-year program designed to train physician leaders who understand the developmental, behavioral and psychosocial needs of children and families; are skilled in collaborating across disciplines and systems; and who advance knowledge of this subspecialty through research and teaching.

  • Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship

    Our ACGME-accredited three-year fellowship prepares individuals to become independent and competent practitioners of neonatal-perinatal medicine, as well as scholars in the field. Our goal is to train physicians who will go on to successful careers in academic and/or clinical medicine.

    This ACGME-accredited three-year fellowship program seeks to train leaders in the field of pediatric critical care.

  • Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship

    Our ACGME-accredited fellowship is a three-year program for physicians who have completed their pediatric residency with distinction and who intend to develop a career in academic pediatric endocrinology. Fellows receive training in clinical care, research and teaching from a nationally ranked pediatric endocrinology team.

Medical Student Education Opportunities

The Department of Pediatrics provides opportunities for medical students who have an interest in pediatrics to explore and learn in pediatric primary care and specialty care settings. We offer a pediatric clerkship to UC Davis School of Medicine students and electives and acting internships for local and visiting medical students.
