I loved the people and patient's I worked with and I knew UC Davis was a place I would love to work someday. I loved that the program was not too big because I want to know all of my co-residents. Although I grew up on the East Coast, my husband is originally from Davis, CA, and I fell in love with Northern CA after spending a year in Berkeley before medical school. After interviewing at different peds programs on the West Coast, I chose UC Davis because of the size of the program, their focus on resident education and wellness, accessibility of faculty, and the emphasis on advocacy work in a capital city. Also, the location was a huge draw- Sacramento seems like a convenient and manageable place to live with a new baby!

Why did you choose the UC Davis Residency Program?
I chose UC Davis for my residency after completing a sub-internship during my 4th year of medical school. After I completed my month I just had that "gut feeling" that this is where I wanted to complete my training. I love that the program is medium sized and resident driven. There is a lot of diverse pathology on the wards, but you still get a good amount of bread and butter pediatrics. In addition, there is a strong sense of resident camaraderie and the attending physicians are amazing and love to teach.
