Why did you choose the UC Davis Pediatric Residency Program?

When I visited for my interview, I felt that everyone seemed happy – the residents enjoyed each other’s company, they spent time together outside of work and everyone talked about how great the attendings are. I am interested in community pediatrics and this is a program that is committed to the surrounding communities and allows us to get to know them through the community health rotation and empowers us to help them through the community health scholarly project.

Clinical areas of interest: General Outpatient Pediatrics

Hobbies:  Dance, baking, reading, eating good food and drinking good wine!

I grew up the cloudy and beautiful Pacific Northwest with a great love of the outdoors and an early ambition to go into medicine. In undergrad attended Boston University where I studied biology and sociobiology. To get out of the city I spent summers between working for a marine biology lab and for the park service in Colorado. After graduation I worked a year as a back-country wilderness guide at an awesome program for troubled youth in Arizona called the ANASAZI foundation before starting medical school at the University of WA in 2011. Through my time at the UW I have trained in Washington, Idaho, Montana and Alaska including a 5 month continuity setting in on the island of Kodiak, AK where I got involved in pediatric community advocacy. I am excited to move down to Sacramento with my husband Brian and our little corgi mixed breed named Maggie.

Why did you choose the UC Davis Pediatric Residency Program?

I chose the UC Davis Pediatric Residency Program because it felt like a natural fit for me. I’m a UC Davis Aggie from the start, and one of my favorite things about Davis is that t is filled with people who both excel in their field and love what they do. I think those two things made my experiences in Pediatrics as a medical student here great and made the residency program great place to learn and explore my career interests whether I choose general or specialty training.

Hobbies: Yoga, jogging, cycling, hiking, listening to music, and being with friends and family.

Why did you choose the UC Davis Pediatric Residency Program?

Hello! I am a born and (mostly) raised Phoenician! I attended the University of Arizona for undergrad and received a degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. Before starting medical school I spent a year doing research at the NIH, but I quickly realized that the East Coast is just too cold and came running back to Phoenix to start my medical education at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix. I absolutely love traveling and spend every opportunity exploring new places, both locally and internationally. I have always known that I wanted to be a pediatrician, but I am still unsure what I want to do within pediatrics. I am excited to start residency and figure out my next career goals.
