Why did you choose the UC Davis Pediatric Residency Program?

I chose UC Davis over other California residencies not only because of the collegial atmosphere, good teaching, and the emphasis on community engagement, but also because the size of the program fosters caring and supportive friendships.

Clinical areas of interest: Outpatient Pediatrics & Endocrinology

Hobbies: Residency is busy, but I still get to sing (daily), draw (including lovely diagrams of the GI tract for patients' families), run (3-4x per week), hike (every couple months), bake (whenever), and spend time with my husband and new friends (daily).

Why did you choose the UC Davis Pediatric Residency Program?

I wanted a strong academic program that offered research, advocacy and community health opportunities without sacrificing a sense of community and a family feel. I remember hearing from everyone I spoke to how supportive, strong and kind the pediatric attendings were here, how close the residents were to one another; and it's true.

Clinical areas of interest: Still deciding, likely fellowship

Hobbies: Running, skiing, hiking, cooking, food in general.

Why did you choose the UC Davis Pediatric Residency Program?

I liked the size of the program, the efficiency of the hospital system, and the diversity of the patient population. The residents I met during my visit seemed incredibly smart, friendly, and happy (an impression that has been confirmed since starting intern year). Sacramento is a great city, and the proximity to Tahoe, San Francisco, and my hometown in the East Bay were also big draws.

Clinical areas of interest: Currently I have a lot of interests, and I'll likely do a sub-specialty fellowship. I also have an MPH and am interested in epidemiological research.

Hobbies: For fun I like to cook, play music, and explore the Sacramento area food and outdoor scene. Come winter, I'll be in Tahoe as often as I can manage.

Why did you choose the UC Davis Pediatric Residency Program?

It’s a medium size program with great faculty and residency. In addition, it felt like a family friendly location in which my husband and I could raise our child.

Clinical areas of interest: Outpatient General Pediatrics versus Pediatric Hospitalist.

Hobbies: Board games, spending time outdoors, working out (running, swimming, biking), baking cookies.

Why did you choose the UC Davis Pediatric Residency Program?

I chose UC Davis for residency after completing an Acting Internship at the program in my 4th year of medical school. I had a wonderful experience and wanted to be part of a program where people worked hard as a team while still having fun. I learned more on my rotation at UC Davis than any rotations I had previously completed and knew that if I were to match with them I would have a great 3 years to look forward to.

Why did you choose the UC Davis Pediatric Residency Program?

I chose this program for several reasons. I wanted to be at a hospital which was known as much for its academic reputation as its clinical training, and get the best of both worlds! I also wanted a tightly knit class where I would get to know all of my co-interns and seniors, and feel like a family! Lastly, I wanted to live in a place that had all the resources of a big city, but wasn't overwhelming, unlike my medical school in Los Angeles!

Clinical areas of interest:  Adolescent Medicine & Gastroenterology

Hobbies: Superman Action Figure Collector & Sports Stadium Enthusiast.

Why did you choose the UC Davis Pediatric Residency Program?

My husband had been out to the Davis / Sacramento area many times before for work, loved it, knew I was thinking about getting out of the Midwest for a bit and suggested that I look into UC Davis for residency. When I looked I the program I loved the medium size, the research opportunities, the beautiful Northern California weather and, of course, the people! Everyone has been very friendly and helpful and I've really been able to bond with my intern class.

Clinical areas of interest: Endocrinology & Infectious Disease

Hobbies: Music, going to concerts, baking, hiking with my husband and watching Husker football (GO BIG RED!)
