Courier Services

Specimen Courier Service

  • STAT service is available for the TNMU and the East Wing on an on-call basis by dialing (916) 734-3347. Immediate STAT courier. Please use this services sparingly.
  • Specimens are routinely picked up every 30 minutes from 7 a.m. to 12 a.m. and every 60 minutes thereafter.
  • For blood gas specimens, call (916) 734-3754.

Report Courier Delivery

  • Reports are normally delivered by computer.
  • The pink "ward" copies are auto-printed directly to each outpatient clinic before 7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday.

Priority 1 Service

"Priority 1" specimens are delivered to the laboratory by nursing. Specimens need to be delivered directly to the laboratory section performing the test. This ensures the fastest possible turnaround time.

The couriers are trained to facilitate communication between the patient treatment areas and the laboratory by carrying your concerns, questions and/or complaints back to the laboratory for a rapid reply.
