Preliminary Autopsy Diagnosis (PAD):
PAD will be issued within 48 hours of completion of the autopsy. The PAD may be delayed if the autopsy is highly infectious or complicated.
The PAD will be discussed with the Attending and/or requesting physician within 48 hours of the completion of the autopsy.
Final Autopsy Diagnosis (FAD):
FAD will be issued within 14 days and final report within 60 days. The FAD may be delayed if the autopsy is highly infectious or complicated.
The FAD will include a short clinical summary, expanded PAD and autopsy summary with clinical-pathologic correlation and cause of death.
The FAD will be distributed to the requesting clinicians, attending pathologist, pathology residents. Family members interested in obtaining autopsy results should contact the clinician who requested the autopsy and/or cared for the decedent during his/her terminal illness.
