The Center for Optical Biology of the Department of Pathology is located at the University of California, Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. The Department's Research Laboratories are in Research III, 4645 2nd Avenue. The laboratory contains complete facilities for performing a variety of cell and tissue based studies including immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, laser capture microdissection, and image analysis.
The Optical Biology Satellite Facility serves as a core facility and shared resource with investigators at the UC Davis Cancer Center. Regina Gandour-Edwards, an anatomic pathologist, serves as medical director. The laboratory includes two sophisticated instruments for cellular analysis. These include a Laser Capture Microdissection Unit (LCM) and Image Analysis Workstation (IA).
