Brief Biography

Upon graduating from the Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences in Iran, in 2008, Dr. Ghorbani practiced briefly as a primary care physician.  After a near-fatal car accident, he decided to pursue a pathology residency at Tehran University.  In 2012, Dr. Ghorbani entered the United States and pursued several opportunities to gain clinical experience that would assist him in gaining admission to a U.S. pathology residency program.  He has served as an extern or observer at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California; Mountainview Hospital, Sunrise Hospital and UMD Hospital, all in Las Vegas, Nevada; and at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.  Dr. Ghorbani had just signed on for an observer rotation in the UC Davis Department of Pathology when an unexpected residency program position became available and he was selected as the successful applicant.
