Dr. Fiore obtained her Baccalaureate of Science degree in Biology with a concentration of Medical Microbiology and Immunology from San Jose State University. She attended medical school at St. Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri, and completed her residency in Anatomical and Clinical Pathology at the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Fiore completed her credentialing year as a UC Davis Forensic Pathology Fellow working at the Sacramento County Coroner's Office.
Following residency, Dr. Fiore spent two years in New York City at the Medical Examiner's Office completing fellowship training in Forensic Pathology and Forensic Neuropathology. During this time, she held an appointment as Clinical Instructor with the Department of Forensic Medicine at New York University, School of Medicine. Dr. Fiore was in her fellowship training during the time of the World Trade Center terrorist attack on September 11, 2001, and the crash of American Airlines Flight 587 on November 12, 2001, and was an integral member of the medical team who examined the remains of those who died in both tragedies.
Since completing her training in June, 2002, Dr. Fiore has worked for the Sacramento County Coroner's Office as a Forensic Pathologist and Forensic Neuropathologist and was promoted to the Chief position in October, 2011. She has held an appointment as an Assistant Clinical Professor with the UC Davis Department of Pathology since April 2003. Dr. Fiore has a passion for teaching and community outreach. She enjoys working with the residents during their forensic pathology and autopsy rotations, teaching them the art of prosection and the pathophysiology of disease. She is also a certified instructor for POST and teaches the essentials of forensic pathology to law enforcement personnel as part of a Basic Homicide Course. Dr. Fiore is an active member of several death review teams in Sacramento County, including the Child Death Review Team, Elder Death Review Team, and the regional wide Trauma Review Team sponsored by the UC Davis Department of Trauma Surgery.
