William G. Ellis received his B.A. from Iowa Wesleyan College in 1953. He received his M.D. in 1957, from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. After completing his internship at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois in 1958 he completed his residency training in Neurology at University Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa from 1958-1961. He completed his fellowship in Neuropathology at the University of Illinois in Chicago, Illinois from 1963-1965.
Currently, William G. Ellis serves as a Professor of Pathology and is the Director of Neuropathology for the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
William G. Ellis is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Association of Neuropathologists, the American Society for Investigative Pathology, the American Association of Pathologists External Advisory Committee, the Stanford University Aging Clinical Research Center, the Neuropathology Advisory Panel, the California Alzheimer’s Disease Diagnostic & Treatment Center, the Royal Society of Medicine and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology.
