Photography by Chief Administrative Officer Darrell O'Sullivan is available at auction to benefit UC Davis Children's Hospital

Darrell O'Sullivan displays the photograph he donated to benefit UC Davis Children's Hospital.

Darrell O'Sullivan, chief administrative officer for the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, has worked for UC Davis Health System for 20 years. He started doing photography about 10 years ago.

O'Sullivan has combined his love of UC Davis and his love of photography by generously donating his photographs to benefit various health system programs, including the student-run clinics, the Serotonin Surge and Painting for Miracles, a Children's Miracle Network event.

Now, O'Sullivan is going solo, personally offering a signed copy of one of his beautiful framed photographs to the highest bidder, with the proceeds from the sale of the artwork benefitting the children's hospital.

"I have presented the photo at the hospital managers meeting and Judie Boehmer brought it to the Patient Care Services Council," he said.

O'Sullivan said that his interest in fundraising for the children's hospital arises, in part, from personal experience. About three years ago he and his family experienced firsthand the excellent care provided to children's hospital patients, when his own niece, then around four years old, was treated for leukemia by pediatric oncologist Theodore Zwerdling.

O'Sullivan said that he will accept bids on the photograph, a 16-by-20 inch matted and framed color photograph of two calla lilies, until 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17. To contact him to make a bid, call 916-734-3005 or e-mail Darrell.osullivan@ucdmc.ucdavis.edu.
