Clinical History:

The patient is a 57 year old male with a history of atrial fibrillation on coumadin, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, hypertension, gout, and alcohol abuse who presented with a three day history of melena. His INR was 7.

An esophagogastroduodenoscopy was performed. Findings included mild antral gastritis without ulceration and salmon pink mucosa arising from the gastroesophageal junction. Biopsies of the stomach and esophagus were taken.
