Residency Program - Case of the Month
April 2013 - Presented by Sarah Barnhard, M.D.
The decedent was a 33 year old male with a prior history of illicit drug use who complained of vague abdominal pain 1 week prior to death. The pain self-resolved. On the morning of demise, he was noted to have significant nausea and vomiting following breakfast, returned to bed to rest, and was found unresponsive a short time later. Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation was unsuccessful, and death was declared.
